options for trauma survivors and their loved ones.\u00a0 In all groups, participants do NOT share the details of their traumatic experiences, in order to protect group members from being overwhelmed by trauma details.\u00a0 \u00a0Instead, group participants talk about their struggles, and share coping strategies.\u00a0Groups typically consist of 5-9 members, and will be regularly offered to meet the need in the community.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Groups can be a very helpful component of your healing journey.\u00a0 Sadly, in our society, trauma survivors often feel alone, and sometimes even feel blamed or judged for their traumatic experiences.\u00a0 At Columbia Psychology Healing Center LLC, survivors come together to support one another and learn that they are not alone, others understand their pain, and it is possible to overcome and lead a fulfilling and joyful life.\u00a0 Groups are a supportive, nonjudgmental place to feel heard ability to maintain awareness of the present moment with acceptance and without judgment.\u00a0 Mindfulness helps strengthen the &#8220;muscle&#8221; in the brain that helps us focus our attention to the present moment (rather than ruminating on the past or worrying about the future).\u00a0 Mindfulness can be beneficial in reducing dissociation, alleviating anxiety and depression, reducing chronic pain, and improving your focus and concentration.\u00a0 Mindfulness helps us become more aware of our emotions and our needs.\u00a0 In addition to mindfulness, this group helps participants gain coping skills to recognize, regulate, validate, tolerate, and appropriately respond to strong emotions with self-compassion as well as assertive communication skills.\u00a0 <strong>The group is come together to offer support and learn how to better help their loved ones.\u00a0 No identifying information or details of trauma histories are shared, in order to respect loved ones\u2019 confidentiality.\u00a0 Instead, participants discuss and learn different ways of coping with their own emotions and responding to trauma survivors in helpful ways.\u00a0 Education on the effects of trauma is provided, and participants are helped to cope with their own emotions and disrupted beliefs about the world following their loved ones\u2019 trauma. <strong>The group is designed as twelve
