Social Support/Skills Group

Join us Online OR in Person! This group is designed for young adults who want to improve their social skills in a fun and supportive group.  Participants learn social skills to help increase success in relationships and the workforce, and enjoy games and other fun activities together.  The group begins with an initial screening (participants must be able to verbally and respectfully participate in a group setting).  The group sessions include material from the Evidence-Based Social Skills Program PEERS for Young Adults, and include education on the following topics:

  • Finding common interests by trading information
  • Using appropriate conversational skills to start and maintain conversations
  • Finding sources to make friends
  • How to appropriately use humor
  • How to enter and exit group conversations
  • How to handle rejection and direct or indirect bullying
  • How to organize and have successful get-togethers
  • Rules for forms of electronic communication
  • How to handle arguments and disagreements
  • Dating etiquette/skill

 The group is designed as sixteen weekly 90- minute sessions.
